Peak Passport is operated by Maxx Countryman LLC. Alpine Tech Systems is a trade name of Maxx Countryman LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Peak Passport mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
Peak Passport uses Sign in with Apple to create and authenticate accounts. Depending on the choices you make through Apple, we may receive:
- your name;
- your email address or Apple private relay email address;
- a unique Apple account identifier associated with Peak Passport.
We do not receive your Apple ID password.
Hiking and journal information
When you use Peak Passport, we may store information you provide or create, including:
- hiking collections and peaks you mark complete;
- completion dates;
- notes and journal entries;
- uploaded summit photos;
- photo filenames and image dimensions;
- photo capture date and location metadata when that information is included in the uploaded file;
- other information you choose to submit through the Service.
You control the content you upload. You should avoid including sensitive personal information in notes or photos unless you are comfortable storing it through the Service.
Usage and analytics information
We collect limited information about how the Service is used to operate and improve it. This may include events such as:
- account creation;
- collection views;
- peak completions;
- use of search and filters;
- photo uploads;
- note creation and updates;
- app errors and basic diagnostic information.
Where practical, search analytics record query length or interaction information rather than the raw text of a search.
Device and technical information
Our servers and service providers may automatically receive technical information such as:
- IP address;
- device and operating-system information;
- request timestamps;
- application version;
- authentication and session information;
- server logs;
- network and error information.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create and authenticate your account;
- provide hiking collection, progress, journal, note, and photo features;
- save and synchronize your information;
- display your completion history and statistics;
- maintain the security and reliability of the Service;
- diagnose errors and respond to support requests;
- understand feature usage and improve Peak Passport;
- enforce our Terms of Service;
- comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and users.
We do not use your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
Service providers
We use service providers to operate Peak Passport, including providers for:
- app distribution and authentication, including Apple;
- application hosting and managed databases, including Render;
- object storage for uploaded photos, including Cloudflare R2;
- infrastructure, security, logging, and related technical services.
These providers may process information on our behalf as necessary to provide their services.
Legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to:
- comply with law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
- investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms;
- protect the rights, safety, or property of Peak Passport, our users, or others.
Business transfers
If Maxx Countryman LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
With your direction
We may share information when you direct us to do so or expressly consent.
4. Data Storage and Security
Application and account data may be stored using infrastructure provided by Render and PostgreSQL. Uploaded photos are stored using Cloudflare R2.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Peak Passport should not be treated as the sole backup for important photographs or records. Keep original copies of photos and other important content in a separate location, such as your device photo library or another backup service.
5. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- provide the Service;
- maintain your account;
- fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy;
- comply with legal obligations;
- resolve disputes;
- enforce agreements;
- maintain security and prevent abuse.
Information may remain temporarily in backups or logs after deletion where reasonably necessary for operational, legal, or security purposes.
6. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including rights to:
- access information associated with your account;
- correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion;
- receive a copy of certain information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- appeal certain privacy-request decisions.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Certain information may be retained where permitted or required by law.
You may control whether photographs include location metadata through your device and photo settings before uploading them.
7. Account Deletion
You may initiate account deletion through the account or settings features made available in the Peak Passport app.
Account deletion is intended to remove your account and associated information that we are not legally required or otherwise permitted to retain. Some information may remain temporarily in backups, security records, or logs.

8. Children’s Privacy
Peak Passport is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the Service, contact support@peakpassport.app so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
9. International Users
Peak Passport is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from another country, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.
Privacy protections and laws in those locations may differ from those in your country.
10. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
The use of Sign in with Apple is also subject to Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version at this page and update the effective date.
If a change is material, we may provide additional notice where appropriate or required by law.
